Three Unique Rug Shapes To Consider

Hello and welcome to my blog! I'm Marlene Washington and I am what my friends often call a gift psychic. I'm not actually a psychic, but I have a knack for guessing exactly what my friends would love to see appear under the Christmas tree. I spend so much time perusing both online and offline stores that I can think of the perfect gift for anyone on my list. Around Christmas dinner, my family unanimously decided that I shouldn't keep my shopping secrets to myself, so I decided to share them with the whole world through my weblog. Please enjoy!

Three Unique Rug Shapes To Consider

Adding a rug to a room in your home can add comfort underfoot and a degree of visual appeal. If you've identified a room that you believe could benefit from a rug, your next step will be to visit a flooring store and find a rug that will suit this space. While you might immediately consider buying a square, rectangular, or oval rug, it's important to know that area rugs are available in a lot of other shapes. One of these shapes may be a good fit for your room, especially if you're wanting the rug to add an unconventional look. Here are three unique rug shapes that you'll often find.

Irregular

You'll find a lot of rugs at your local flooring store that have an irregular shape; some retailers also refer to this shape as "odd." Regardless of what term is used, it means that the area rug doesn't have a uniform shape. Its perimeter may be wavy, for example, but not in a way that causes one edge of the rug to be the same as the other. An irregular rug can work well in a big room such as a living room, particularly if you decorate this space in an eclectic manner.

Octagonal

Another shape that you may wish to consider is that of an octagon. A lot of flooring stores sell octagonal area rugs in a wide range of different styles. This shape can be a good visual fit in a square room more than in a long, rectangular room. You may have an opportunity to place this shape of rug beneath a piece of furniture that has the same shape. For example, if you have a poker table in your basement where you play cards with friends, the table can often have an octagonal shape. An octagonal area rug that is large enough to hold the table and the chairs around it can be a good idea.

Flower

A lot of people like area rugs that have floral designs on them. If you're one of these individuals, you might wish to take things a step further by selecting a rug that is actually shaped like a flower. Few rugs can add more color and cheer to a room as this type. If you have a part of your home that you want to feel friendly and fun, a flower-shaped rug can be an idea to explore. Browse these and other shapes by visiting your local flooring store.
